Udio Downloads Disabled: What Now and the Alternatives

What changed on Udio

Udio announced a partnership with Universal Music Group on 29 October 2025 and moved its users to a "transition" version of its terms of service on the same day. Udio's help center now says plainly: "downloading of audio, video, and stems has been disabled". In the same change Udio gave every subscriber a one-time grant of 1,000 non-expiring credits and raised the monthly credit limits (Standard from 1,200 to 2,400, Pro from 4,800 to 6,000). We found no date in Udio's help center for when downloads will come back, and no exception for paid plans.

Udio's help article of 19 November 2025 covers a second partnership, with Warner Music Group, and says the platform Udio is building will let you "make remixes, covers, and new songs using the voices and styles of artists who choose to participate". As of 4 October 2026 its help center gives no launch date.

What you can still do on Udio

Create. During the transition you keep the v1, v1.5 and v1.5 Allegro models and the core creation tools, "such as extend, remix, Styles", according to Udio's help center.
Share by link. Songs can still be shared through their udio.com address, which anyone can open, even without a Udio account.
Use what Udio does well. Udio's changelog lists Styles (start a song from an audio clip or a track in your library), Voices, Sessions (a timeline editor for paid subscribers) and an iOS app. If you want to keep making music inside Udio and listen there, the platform still works for that.

What you cannot do is take the audio file away: not to a DAW, a DJ library, a video editor or a distributor.

Where you can generate AI music and keep the files

If downloading is the reason you are looking, the question to ask every alternative is the same: can I download, how many songs, in what format, and may I use them commercially?

What you get from Aleatoria

Downloads are not capped on Basic, Studio or Pro. Re-downloading and changing formats cost nothing.
Sung songs come from ACE-Step 1.5, an open model: up to 4 minutes for 5 credits. On Studio and Pro you can separate one into four AI stems (vocals, drums, bass, other) with a MIDI file transcribed from them. Their files carry the BPM when we measured it, and no key.
Instrumentals from our synthesizer cost 0 credits and come with a stem per instrument, the MIDI of the composition, and the BPM and key in the tags, on every plan, within a daily fair-use number of renders.
Masters are 24-bit WAV and FLAC (44.1, 48 or 96 kHz) plus a 320 kbps MP3, generated and stored in the EU (europe-west4).
Commercial use is on every plan, from Basic at €2.99 a month; there is no free plan, only a 30-second synthesizer trial without an account. See pricing.

What Udio has and we do not: Styles can start from an audio clip you upload, and Voices lets you reuse a voice from Udio's library or from one of your songs. Aleatoria cannot take your own audio as a starting point and has no voice library. Our song model is an open model, and we have not compared how it sounds against Udio's — listen before you decide.

Before you release anything

Downloading a file is not the same as being allowed to release it. Stores and distributors now have their own rules for AI music, and some refuse it outright. Read where you can release AI music before you upload anything, whichever generator made it.

Can I still download my old Udio songs?

Udio's help center says downloading of audio, video and stems has been disabled, and it names no exception for songs you made before 29 October 2025. Check your Udio account and Udio's help center for any change since 4 October 2026.

Will Udio downloads come back?

Udio has not given a date. Its partnership pages describe a new, licensed platform, but as of 4 October 2026 they do not say whether it will let you download files.

Which Udio alternative lets me download stems?

Suno separates stems on Pro and Premier, within its download caps. On Aleatoria, synthesizer tracks come with a stem per instrument on every plan, and sung songs can be split into four AI stems on Studio and Pro. Try a track in the studio.
